On behalf of the South West Dorset Talking Newspaper for the Visually Impaired, I would like to thank everyone who supported our recent collection at Morrisons in Weymouth. We raised a total of £223.44. I know there are always so many different charities asking for money, and so this makes us especially grateful. These donations make such a difference to our small charity. We provide a weekly talking CD or memory stick, of local news, plus a talking magazine. It is available free of charge to people who are blind or partially sighted, including the postage. We serve the Weymouth, Port-land, Lyme Regis, Bridport, Dorchester, Sherborne and Blandford areas, but we do have listeners all over Dorset, in neighbouring counties and even further afield. This service is run entirely by volunteers, and their dedication produces an enjoyable and informative opportunity for visually-impaired people to keep up with the local news and enjoy some interesting articles. If you, or anyone you know, would like the magazine, please contact the SWDTN at Portland Town Council Offices, Fortuneswell, Portland Dorset, DT5 1LW.
