Sports and Fitness
keeping in shape
Want to take up a sport or just be more active? Try some of these ideas to get your pulse racing

WEYMOUTH is rich in sports facilities, and those on these pages are just some of the opportunities. Others include hotels with swimming pools, gyms and fitness classes, and water sports schools including windsurfing, sailing, kitesurfing, canoeing and diving, particularly in the Portland Road, Wyke Regis, Overcombe and Portland Harbour areas.

There are at least three sailing clubs for members including Weymouth Sailing Club, Castle Cove Sailing Club and the Royal Dorset Yacht Club. Portland is renowned for climbing while Dorset’s world heritage coast is a honeypot for geologists and fossil hunters. Walking, cycling and riding are immensely popular.

Tourist information centres on Weymouth Esplanade and at Portland Lighthouse hold many useful leaflets.
