Previous Occupation - Former Actor and Arts Administrator. Has been General Manager for Dentons Directories (Publishing).

Personal Overview - Gained this seat from the Conservatives with a further swing from 1997, and will therefore have to remain locally aware in a seat captured in a high watermark year for Labour. Prior to his election, he held a number of local junior labour party posts. Has a mixed career background, with a long term interest in the arts. A party loyalist, he has advanced into a middle ranking Government career. He attends Cabinet in his role as Minister of State for Work and Pensions.
