THIS is the latest batch of entries to arrive in our hunt to find a flag for Dorset.
The Dorset Echo has invited readers to send us their ideas for a county flag and the submissions have come flying in.
David Wolstencroft, from Wyke Regis in Weymouth, sent us 10 different designs for a Dorset flag.
Some used a blue, yellow and green colour scheme -to represent the county's sky, beaches and countryside - and some used a red cross and king's crown.
In his other designs Mr Wolstencroft included familiar Dorset sights such as a ship, seagulls and a lighthouse.
Davina Denness, from Westham in Weymouth, also used the same colours - a common feature in reader's submissions so far - for her design.
Meanwhile, John Rogers, from Portland, sent us an updated version of his idea for a Dorset flag, which he originally submitted in oil sketch' form back in July.
It featured the St George flag for England, a red strip and the unique Dorset symbol of the Cerne Giant.
Reader Niall Simpson, from Dorchester, came up with a design using a hazel leaf - to represent Dorset's woodlands - and green rectangles to symbolise the county's green, open spaces.
Interest in finding a flag for Dorset has been renewed since Dorchester man David White came up with his own and the county council has asked to see more ideas.
Send your submissions to Newsdesk, Dorset Echo, Hampshire Road, Weymouth, DT4 9XD.
We will feature them in the paper and send them on to Dorset County Council.

What does it look like and where can I find a picture of it?
lots on the web looks like 3 'Ironed flat" red cats with long nails and a scout emblem on the bottom , has white background

No, that's a banner of the Arms of Dorset County Council. Not a Dorset flag.

You mean three lions passant with a a fleur-de-lys? No, that's a banner of the Arms of Dorset County Council. Not a Dorset flag.

I think maybe we should acknowledge the efforts that Dave White has put into this project and accept the design that he and his advisors/colleagues have come up with. The design principles he has adopted are reasonable.
The alternative is to let every man and his dog come up with a design in which case, like the bypass, the project will never come to fruitition.
It's amazing how there can be no interest in something until somebody comes up with an idea, and then everybody has a better one. In my view none of the designs published in the Echo were a patch on Dave's.

I certainly would not want to fly the attached flags, or have a sticker depicting the same. Too many colours, and too many motives, not necessary in a flag. As already pointed out a flag should be a simple representation of the county, country, etc.
Dorset Gay Pride maybe interested. Not being disrespectful, but some of the colours do represent their flag.

I've only learned about a campaign for a flag for Dorset today- 10th May. I am appalled that the prefered flag represents the Christian faith and excludes all not of that belief from feeling they are Dorset people.

It has a cross on it! Of course it is a Christian representation. A fish would be less controversial,as both a Christian symbol and a fact that we have a coastline.
