Lawes dropped after top order reshuffle
DORSET look set to change their top order for their crucial MCCA Trophy clash against Cambridgeshire at March tomorrow (11am).
Former Derbyshire batsman Steve Selwood, dismissed for a duck in Dorset's 32-run home defeat against Lincolnshire, will probably move up from three to open alongside Nick Park.
They are set to replace Glyn Treagus, who is unavailable, and Ben Lawes, who has been left out of the side after getting three against Lincolnshire at Sher-borne School last weekend.
Pace bowler Max Waller, who plays alongside Treagus at Bashley, replaces his club colleague, while Weymouth batsman Lawes makes way for all-rounder Guy Hicks, of Farnham.
Dorset team manager Sean Walbridge, whose side must win the group four match to have any real hope of reaching the quarter-finals, said: "We are going to have a change at the top of the order.
"We'll look at Steve at number one. He has expressed a preference to go out there as an opener.
"He will probably open with Nick, and Guy will come into the middle order."
Walbridge, whose side saw their match at Wales washed out, added: "Having lost our first group game we are in a situation were we have to win the next match.
"It seems a bit harsh, certainly on Ben, but we feel bringing someone in the middle order, will give us a better balance to the side.
"Tough decisions sometimes have to be made and although Ben is very unfortunate to be left out, it is one of those decisions that have to be made at a crucial time for us.
"Ben is very much a strong member of Dorset, I would have thought an integral part of the squad and I'm sure he'll have a big part to play in our three-day championship cricket."
It will be the first time Western Division Dorset have met Eastern Division Cambridgeshire since 1997 at Sherborne School.
Spinner Vyv Pike bagged 6-34 as Dorset dismissed Cambridge-shire for 156 to complete a 44-run quarter-final victory in the MCC Trophy, as the competition was then called.
But, Dorset, with current coach Alan Willows in the side, lost by 34 runs to eventual trophy winners Norfolk in the last four at Dean Park to miss out on a first Lord's final.
Hampshire's Jimmy Adams is unavailable for Dorset tomorrow, while Richard Banham and Martin Ford are injured.
