Homes plan for scrapyard

LAND at Chickerell used for scrap metal storage and garaging could be developed for housing.

Builder CG Fry has applied to West Dorset District Council for planning permission to build 61 homes on the site at Floods Yard, Chickerell Hill.

The proposal involves demolishing two houses and other outbuildings to create the range of 48 houses and 13 apartments.

The brownfield site is mostly disused but still has contamination from previous use.

Comments are invited before June 13.

Surely there must be some form of timescale before the l;and can be used for housing.
Has this timescale been reached ?? or will the rules on this be waived this time ?? because housing is in "short supply"

Westie, West Dorset on 5:59pm today quite rightly questions
"..timescale before land can be used for housing.."
I'm curious if the waste from scrap cars etc over many decades, is any worse than the industrial waste of a century of the Whitehead Torpedo Works followed by Wellworthy's at Ferry Bridge?
Toxic heavy metals spring to mind in the latter!

If the bribes are adequate, the development will be approved.

Gladys, Weymouth Bribes, that is a scurrilous suggestion to make about our wonderful civil servants and councillors.
