WEYMOUTH boss John Hollins underlined the importance of being clinical in front of goal after his suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss at Salisbury City last night.

The Terras had a penalty appeal turned down and also saw Stuart Beavon denied by home keeper James Bittner in a tight encounter that was decided by Liam Feeney's fine finish from 12 yards on 54 minutes.

The result has sent the Whites back to the top of the Blue Square Premier table but Hollins thought his men were unfortunate.

He said: "We could have had a penalty and we had some good chances but we just could not stick it away.

"James Coutts had a good one and Stuart Beavon went through only to see his effort saved.

"It was a bit of a battle really. They are a strong side and they try to turn you at every opportunity. However, in the second half we got the ball down better and started to put things together.

Opportunities "But it was one of those where the first goal was always going to win it and unfortunately they took one of their opportunities whereas we didn't.

"Had we scored I think we would have got into it more but that is just the way it goes sometimes.

"A one-nil defeat is always a disappointing result and the game proved just how important it is that you convert your chances."

Hollins was forced to make changes to his starting line-up for the first time this season with both his regular full backs unavailable.

He added: "We had to make two changes. Kevin Sandwith could not play due to his wife having a baby.

"I am not sure if they have had it yet or not but it meant Stephen Reed had to go to left back with Adam Bygrave coming in for the suspended Cameron Mawer. James Coutts made up the midfield four.

"We also had two young ones on the bench in Ben Reiffer and Tom Richardson but we did not make any substitutes in the end.

"We did not get hold of it in the first half. We were squeezed a bit tight but we worked very hard at it as the game went on and were unfortunate not to get something."

The defeat pushes Wey-mouth down to 12th and means they have only claimed one point in their last three games but Hollins is by no means downhearted.

He said: "Histon at home on Saturday will be another tough one but we are unbeaten at the Wessex Stadium this season and if we get the three points we will be back on track again."
