JURORS in the trial of a man accused of trapping a woman in a house in Weymouth and raping her have heard the final submissions from barristers.
Louay Elamin, 32, is standing trial at Dorchester Crown Court for two offences of rape and two allegations of false imprisonment.
He denies accusations that he locked a 28-year-old woman in his then home on March 20, 2009, and forced her to perform a sexual act.
Elamin, now of Seven Kings Road, Ilford in London, also denies beating another man who knocked on the door during the incident and leaving him tied up while he raped the woman in the next room.
In his closing speech to the jury prosecutor Martin Lanchester praised the courage of the female victim for coming forward and described her evidence as ‘compelling’.
He said: “Throughout her evidence she was accurate and consistent and, when challenged about what you may think were some of the difficult things in this case, compelling.”
Malcolm Gibney, representing Elamin, responded by claiming the woman was making an ‘outrageous allegation’ against his client.
He added: “The Crown asks you to accept that what she told you in court was the truth.
“I suggest it was far from the truth.” The trial continues.
