TWO colleagues from a Dorchester school will be inspired by the memory of lost loved ones when they take on a charity trek in the shadow of the tallest mountain in the world.
Headteacher at Sunninghill Prep School, Andrew Roberts-Wray and head of curriculum and assessment Sue Brunt have set off on an 18-day, 120km trek through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp.
They will be taking on the epic challenge in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, Countess Mountbatten Hospice, a local epilepsy charity and Breakthrough Breast Cancer in Dorset.
Mrs Brunt is raising money in memory of her daughter, Georgie, who tragically died in January at the age of just 18.
The former Sunninghill and Thomas Hardye School pupil suffered from epilepsy and Breakthrough Breast Cancer was her favourite charity.
Mr Roberts-Wray, who described their adventure as ‘a half-term trip with a difference’, will be raising funds in memory of his parents after his dad, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, and his mum who died from cancer in November last year.
He said: “We wanted to do something in their memory but also something that’s inspiring and hopefully will encourage other people to dig deep.”
