THREE friends will be taking on a charity running challenge this weekend.

On Sunday Weymouth friends Lucy Hallett, Michelle Sherratt and Kate Pearce will be taking on the 10-mile Great South Run in Portsmouth.

The trio are hoping their running success will inspire others to give the sport a go.

Lucy Hallett, 33, is a Slimming World consultant and runs classes in Westham, she lost 4.5 stone in 14 months and decided to become a consultant to help others reach their slimming goals.

She will be running to raise money for Julia’s House. She said that she wouldn’t have run before but now she really enjoys it. Michelle Sherratt, also 33, will be running for Cancer Research UK. She said she wanted to raise money for the charity as close family members had been affected by it.

She has lost just under three stone since joining the group.

She said: “Running would have been impossible before. I’m nervous but excited.”

She added that running had really helped her weight loss.

She added that knowing she could now run 10 miles felt great.

Kate Pearce, 32, joined the group almost exactly a year ago and has lost 4.5 stone. She will be running for the British Heart Foundation after her father had heart surgery this year.
