THOUSANDS of pounds worth of damage was caused when a building site on Portland was broken into, police said.

A number of properties under construction on Castle Road were broken into and the offenders caused extensive damage to the outside of the buildings.

Officers have just released the details of the incident, which happened at around 7.30pm on Thursday, October 18, and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

PC Richard White, of Weymouth police, said: “This callous crime has caused an untold amount of disruption to the building firm working on the site. Anyone with information can contact Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 18:414 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
