YOUNGSTERS have a chance to tell community leaders their ideas for a skatepark.
An event is being held today at Weymouth Community Fire Station to find out what improvements young people living in the west of Weymouth and Chickerell would like to see.
The Westham Community Group is the host and secretary David Harris said young people will be asked if they want Westham, Chickerell and Southill to work together to develop a site near Weymouth’s football ground or if communities should work independently.
Secondly, youngsters will be asked if they are prepared to help in the design of a park and take part in fundraising.
West Dorset District Council is providing access to its mobile skateboard park in the rear car park of the community centre. Maverick will have displays of possible skateboarding complexes and young people attending will be asked to complete a questionnaire about their preferences.
BMX bikers will also be able to visit the FireWise experience while waiting for their turn on the park.
The event runs from 10am-4pm.
