Turning back the clocks a challenge for Dorchester store
12:30pm Saturday 27th October 2012 in News
Jonathan Burgess of Clockhouse Dorchester will be turning back his clocks
TURNING back the hands of time will prove a headache for a Dorchester store as the clocks go back this weekend.
As we bid farewell to British Summer Time and move into Greenwich Mean Time in the early hours, Fred Burgess and son Jonathan from Clockhouse Jewellers in Durngate Street face the daunting task of changing up to 40 clocks.
For many of us the clocks changing means an extra hour in bed but for Jonathan and his dad it will be a busy weekend as they have to adjust all their timepieces.
He said: “We have got about 40 clocks and with the clocks going back we have to stop them all and wait and then go round an hour later starting them again.”
• Don’t forget – the clocks go back at 2am in the early hours of tomorrow to 1am.
