A SCHOOL trip to New York had to be postponed because of Hurricane Sandy.

Budmouth College had its sixth form trip to New York postponed after the hurricane hit the East Coast of America yesterday.

The school had its flight cancellation confirmed on Sunday afternoon and staff worked hard to make sure everything was transferred and reorganised for the trip to take place in February half term next year.

The group of 44 sixth form students and six teachers had been planning the trip to the States for 18 months and were going to be taking in all the sights around New York including Ellis Island and going to see the Spider-Man show on Broadway.

The Budmouth party was due to fly at 12.30pm yesterday but its flights were cancelled on Sunday afternoon.

Teachers managed to rearrange the trip for February and a meeting was held yesterday morning to tell students.

Samantha Temple, a teacher at the college and one of the trip’s organisers, said: “The students were so good.”
