A PENSIONER died after suffering a fall in his home, an inquest has heard.

Richard McDonald Wardrop, 84, was found by the warden of his sheltered accommodation in Raleigh Court, Long Street, Sherborne, after falling down the stairs.

He died at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton several days after the fall on August 4 this year. The cause of death was given as head and spinal trauma due to traumatic injury, and hypertension.

At the inquest at County Hall in Dorchester, coroner for West Dorset Michael Johnston recorded that the former engineer, who was born in Glasgow, died as the result of an accident.

He said: “Although his fall was not witnessed, I am satisfied he had a fall downstairs at his home.”
