WITNESSES are being sought after a safe containing money was stolen from Portland Boxing Club.
The incident happened between midday on Sunday and 10.30am on Monday morning.
The offenders gained entry through a window and stole the safe, which also contained tickets to an upcoming event and membership cards.
PC Jenny Bousfield, of Portland police, said: “I am appealing to anyone with information about this burglary to get in contact with us.
“This callous theft of money and personal information will severely harm the running of the popular club.
“The cards stolen hold the history and personal details of all the fighters that are members there, and without them they cannot take part in competitions.
“This theft has already resulted in the cancellation of a major event in Luton.
“Portland Boxing Club is a long established organisation that does a lot of good work with young people on the island, and their future development in the sport could be badly effected by this crime."

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101 quoting 29:351
