A HUSBAND and wife have proved there’s nothing cheesy about teamwork after becoming the first duo to scoop a prestigious award.

George and Amanda Streatfeild, of Denhay Farms, won Cheese Person of the Year at the British Cheese Awards.

The couple, who have been married for 35 years, have a track record of winning top prizes for their produce.

Since 2000, they have won more than 75 Gold awards for their bacon.

Mr Streatfeild said: “It was a huge surprise to us to be nominated for this award but the British cheese industry is a great business.

“We are all competitors but there is always a great feeling of camaraderie and support and we have been very privileged to be part of it for over 30 years.”

The couple retired from their position as executive directors to become non-executive directors this year and now spend more time in the wider food industry.

It is the first time the Cheese Person of the Year Award has been given to a duo but the judges recognised that the Streatfeilds have always worked as a team.

Denhay Farms also won three Silvers and a Bronze for their Dorset Drum, Traditional and Block Cheddars at the award ceremony in Cardiff.
