STUDENTS and staff from All Saints School in Weymouth have stayed in Boston to keep away from the Superstorm Sandy ravaging the east coast of the US.

The 79-strong party was due to travel to New York but has rearranged its plan to avoid the worst of the storm.

Parents have been keeping in contact with their children while All Saints head Paul Gray has been in regular contact with the trip leaders.

A school spokesman said: “Staff, students and friends of the school are enjoying their trip.

“Plans have been rearranged slightly to ensure that all remain safe and well and out of the reach of the weather's excesses.”

Youths on the trip include Brendan McNulty, 16, and Ben Billington, 14.

The party left last Saturday and is due to return from America on Sunday November 4.

Brendan’s mother Pauline said that she had been in regular contact with him and that they were making the best of the situation.

Ben’s mum Nikki said that he had told her that it was wet and windy.
