WRITER Helen Baggott of Sturminster Newton is supporting a new initiative to raise funds for Medical Detection Dogs.
The charity trains dogs that will ‘alert’ to an owner’s life-threatening medical emergency, especially diabetes.
Helen has contributed to a new anthology, One Word Challenge, from which 10 per cent of the proceeds will go to the charity.
But Helen has also pledged that all of her proceeds will also go to the charity. She said: “This small charity really can change lives.
“I recently met poet Liz Brownlee who, without her dog, Lola, would be virtually housebound. “But with Lola by her side, Liz is able to visit schools and share her passion for poetry. “In addition to the 10 per cent I will also be donating all the proceeds I receive from the anthology to the charity.”
One Word Challenge is available as an eBook from Amazon for 99p from the middle of November.
