A SPECIAL information event for businesses is being held at Bridport Arts Centre on Tuesday, November 13 from 4pm to 7pm.

The session is going under the heading ‘Apprenticeships – Good for Business, Good for Bridport’.

Representatives from Yeovil College and Kingston Maurward College will outline the advantages to businesses of taking on an apprentice and the support available.

Local businessmen who have experienced the benefits of involvement with modern apprenticeships will be on hand as well as young people already successfully undertaking their apprenticeships.

The event is being organised by the colleges in partnership with the YOU Trust, Job Centre Plus and Bridport Enterprise Supporting Training Ltd (BEST).

It will be in the Arts Centre Café. Employers are welcome to drop in at any time convenient to them.

BEST director Arthur Woodgate said: “Planning meetings have been extremely positive.

“There is a clear dynamic to engage with local businesses to promote the benefits of taking on an apprentice, and an essential part of this will be to listen carefully to employers in order to determine their needs and, perhaps, allay any potential misgiving.”
