A DORSET writer who penned a song of remembrance will have his work performed around Britain and the world this weekend.
Lest we Forget was written by Ron Dawson, from Winterborne Stickland near Blandford, and put to music by Kevin Morgan from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
It has already premiered in New Zealand and was performed by the Dorset Police Male Voice Choir in Bournemouth.
Ron says he has been told by musical director of the Band of the Parachute Regiment Captain Evin Frost that they will be playing the song at their remembrance service in Cyprus, and that he is also expecting confirmation that it will be performed by a choir in Canada.
The song will also be performed by the Suffolk Royal British Legion Band in their remembrance concert and at a civic remembrance parade in Hull.
Other performances are expected to take place in Horsham in Sussex and Portsmouth in Hampshire.
Ron said: “My hopes are that in the future it will be performed much more widely at appropriate occasions of remembrance and repatriations.”
