Appeal for witnesses after Weymouth burglary
9:40am Tuesday 13th November 2012 in News
OFFICERS in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a burglary in the Melcombe Regis area of the town.
The break-in occurred at around 12.15am on Sunday at a house just off Park Street.
The offenders forced their way through a ground floor window while the owner slept before making off with a Dell Inspiron laptop.
Police Constable William Taylor, of Weymouth police, said: “I am appealing to anyone with information about this burglary to get in contact with us.
“This theft has caused great distress to the victim, and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area leading up to and during the time of this offence.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 11:016. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.

Most encryption is carried out by the OS, so a reformat of the disk would sort that out. Granted it would keep the owners personal data safe. BIOS passwords and the like are easy enough to remove given a few minutes of effort.
Generally only the business versions of Windows come with disk encryption, although there are many free 3rd party solutions out there - like TruCrypt (http://www.truecryp
t.org/), I can't comment on *nix, as I am not a user.

its all the smack heads from around the park district, they even get a whisp of something during the daytime they will be back. A few dirty thieving smack heads live behind plan-it pizza on lodmoor where the railway bridge is, there houses let by a private landlord and he takes on crack , meth, heroin users , why i dont know but its ruined that area as there notorious for robbing anything to get a hit.police need to devolope some sort of survallance drone that can stay in the air for days and has high powered cameras that can focus on whole estates, uses heat, night vision. knowing its in the air criminals would be cautoius but it would work , be cheaper than having helcopters, and could record human movements, could even have the design to cover whole of weymouth from up high with the latest technology, Cameras need to start going high and not ground level for security of the people and propertys.

Melcombe Regis encompasses a lot more than just the Park District.

It is so easy to protect computers. The encryption system is part of most new operating systems!
