WEST DORSET District Council has pledged £15,000 to help the Dorchester BID prepare for a re-ballot next year.
Businesses in the county town will vote early next summer on whether to extend the BID (Business Improvement District) for another five-year term.
The ballot has been delayed from February as BID leaders look to engage with businesses arriving at the town’s new Brewery Square development.
They also want to consult with businesses before the re-ballot and draw up a new business plan for the second term.
At a meeting of the council’s executive committee today members agreed to provide £15,000 of funding to enable the BID to carry out that work.
