A Dorset woman is taking part in a national campaign to raise awareness of lung cancer after she was diagnosed with the disease.
Karen Wright, 52, is supporting Lung Cancer Awareness Month this November.
She said: “My symptoms were a feeling of being constantly tired and I had painful, aching knees.
“I also started having problems with my fingers tips as they had become clubbed and were hurting.
“I was sent for a chest X-ray and then a biopsy on my lung. I was told two weeks after that it was lung cancer.
“I had some chemotherapy and I have now been free from lung cancer for eight years and I am looking forward to many more.”
Karen, of Studland, was hit with a second blow some years after beating lung cancer.
She said: “The most important message is that people are aware of what symptoms to look out for.”
Each year almost 40,000 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK.
