SUPER SLIMMERS from Weymouth are celebrating life-changing weight losses.

Ken Hansford and Martin Sheward have both lost more than 50lbs each – a combined total of seven stone.

Both men were referred to the Weight Watchers classes at Redlands Community Sports Hub by doctors for a 12-week programme.

But they enjoyed their newfound energy so much that they became full paying members.

Ken said: “I feel so much better. I’ve got so much more energy.”

Ken, 80, has shed eight inches from his waist – and trousers he bought just a few weeks ago are now too big.

And his wife Jennifer, 70, who was already attending classes, is just a few pounds from hitting the 50lb milestone herself.

She said: “I’ve been to other classes before and always given up, but here it’s lovely.

“Everyone is so friendly and supportive.

“It’s been nice Ken and I have lost the weight together.

Slimmer Martyn Shew-ard, aged 58, thanked the support of his wife for helping with his dramatic weight loss.

He said said: “It’s really changed my life.

“I knew that I had to lose weight, but I couldn’t imagine the impact it’s had.

“I feel brilliant.

“My wife’s been cooking nice fresh food, you can have plenty and it’s all good for you.”

Both Martyn and Ken received certificates from their instructor Elaine Pruce, a super slimmer herself.

Mrs Pruce, who lost more than five stone on the programme, said: “They’ve showed what being dedicated can do.”

Meanwhile, Peter Sear has lost more than 75lb and ‘completely changed’ his life.

The 51-year-old said: “Before I lost the weight, I was wearing knee braces a lot of the time – not anymore.

“My aches and pains have disappeared.”
