MORE than eight years of dedicated work policing the county town by Inspector Les Fry was commemorated with a presentation.

Dorchester Mayor Andy Canning presented the plaque and certificate to Inspector Fry, who has now moved on to lead the police work in Weymouth and Portland.

The accolade was given during a town council meeting.

Insp Fry said: “Dorchester Town Council made the presentation to me of a certificate and award. It was a nice surprise.”

He added: “Dorchester is a great town with a friendly community.

“It’s a very safe place to live and work. But it was the right time for me to move on when the opportunity came up I couldn’t really turn down.”

Dorchester Mayor Andy Canning said: “We gave Les a plaque and certificate to mark the fact he had been chief inspector for almost nine years and done an excellent job in fighting crime in Dorchester and the surrounding area.

“We wanted to commemorate all the good work he has done and to wish him all the best for his new responsibilities in Weymouth and Portland.”

“He was established in the town and the town’s people helped him to do a good job over the years.”
