PARTS of a memorable Olympic summer could be repeated in Weymouth and Portland in 2013.
Weymouth and Portland borough councillors are to consider whether key aspects of this summer’s spectacular celebrations could be repeated.
Councillors will discuss whether to implement these plans at a meeting of the council’s management committee next month.
Projects being put forward as a priority include developing a 2013 Summer to Remember Festival and bringing back the beach sports area, live site, ambassadors and torch wading.
Another possible plan is to investigate whether a small part of Weymouth seafront could be pedestrianised and more cycle parking provided, Another priority could be to work with national tourism agencies to capitalise on the global Games time TV coverage of Weymouth and Portland.
