Be green and donate Christmas cards to Dorset recycling scheme
2:00pm Wednesday 2nd January 2013 in News
RESIDENTS are being urged to have a green start to the new year by donating Christmas cards to a recycling scheme in Dorset.
Recycling bins have been placed in Sainsbury’s stores countywide for donations to the Forest Stewardship Council.
Residents can take in unwanted cards until January 15 and Sainsbury’s will make a donation to the FSC based on the volume of cards collected.
Sainsbury’s Wareham store manager Damian Fancy said: “We know that our customers care about the environment and reducing their impact on landfill so we’re providing really simple and hassle-free ways for them to live more sustainably and recycle their Christmas waste once the holidays are over.”
Stores are also providing facilities for the safe recycling of used batteries.
Sainsbury’s stores include one on the Bridport Road in Dorch-ester.
