Challenge for air ambulance
1:40pm Thursday 3rd January 2013 in News
GET fit for the New Year and sign up for a charity challenge in support of the Air Ambulance.
Dorset and Somerset air ambulance will be hosting the Coast to Coast Challenge on Sunday, May 19.
The event, which is not a race, sees participants cycling through some of Dorset and Somerset’s most beautiful countryside.
There are two different routes and distances.
For those who like a challenge, there is a 54-mile cycle starting in the Somerset port of Watchet and finishing at West Bay near Bridport.
There is also an 11-mile route from Drimpton to West Bay which has something for everyone – from quiet back roads and a few demanding climbs to equally ‘hairy’ descents.
Last year, 543 cyclists of all ages and abilities took part and raised £56,000 in sponsorship. The charity hopes that everyone that enters the 2013 event will once again encourage their family and friends to sponsor them.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance needs to raise £1.5million a year to keep saving lives.
There are only 600 places available. Entry is £10 for adults and £5 for those under 16.
