Police appealing for information following Wareham burglary

POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary at Cottees auction house in Wareham.

The incident happened between Wednesday December 26 at around 3.30pm and 9am on Monday December 31 at Cottees Auction Limited, The Market, East Street.

The offenders broke into the premises by smashing a window, and stole 39 items of jewellery and various other collectables from cabinets inside.

Police Constable Luke Davis, of Wareham police, said: “Large quantities of expensive antique items have been taken.

“We are interested to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time of the incident, or have any other information that could help with our investigation.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who has been approached to buy any jewellery or antique items in strange circumstances or at unusually low prices.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 31:147.
