Norovirus under control at Dorset County Hospital

DORSET County Hospital is successfully battling the spread of the winter vomiting bug norovirus.

Infection control staff at the county hospital have reported fewer than ten cases at the moment, despite the outbreak nationally.

A spokesperson for Dorset County Hospital said that all wards are still open but visitors are advised not to visit the hospital if they have had diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 48 hours.

She added: “We have very good infection prevention and control procedures in place to minimise the spread of infections and we have not had to close any wards due to norovirus.

“We appreciate everyone’s help in following our hand hygiene policy and urge visitors to continue to use the hand washing facilities outside our wards before entering and when they leave.”
