Counselling group Relate Dorset reports huge rise

A DORSET charity has reported a huge rise in the number of couples using its services this January.

The number of people seeking support from Relate Dorset, a family counselling charity, has risen by 52 percent since the start of the new year compared to January 2012. Sheila Maycock, centre manager, said: “We expect this week to be the busiest ever for us as people get back to work and think about their relationships following the break.

“The first full working week in January is always a very busy time for us and the 52 percent jump in client numbers we have already seen is an indicator of what’s to come.

“Last year we saw a 116 percent rise in calls to our national helpline and the number of people accessing Relate this year looks to be higher still.”
