STREETLIGHTS in Littlemoor are set to be turned back on at night after a campaign by residents.

A request to turn the lights back on in certain streets has been sent by Dorset Police and Dorset County Council .

The decision follows a spate of arson and vandalism in the area.

Inspector Les Fry said: “We have listened to resident’s concerns that they don’t feel safe with the lights off.

“We have sent a request to Dorset County Council for the lights to be turned on within certain areas of Littlemoor.”

The council has intimated it would look positively on a request by police to turn the lights back on, according to Littlemoor councillor Rachel Rogers.
