THE caravan fire that took the life of young mum Vikki Syme was not suspicious, police have said.

Officers investigating the blaze in Wyke Regis on Monday said the incident has been referred to the coroner.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “Following investigations into the caravan fire on January 8 in Ryemead Lane the incident is being treated as non-suspicious.

“The case has now been referred to the coroner.”

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to the tragic mother-of-one Vikki Syme, 27.

Former Budmouth College student Vikki has been described as a ‘wonderful, happy-go-lucky woman’ who had a bright future.

Emergency services were alerted to the caravan blaze at Martleaves Farm in Ryemead Lane, Wyke Regis, on Monday night.

Firefighters from Weymouth and Portland tackled the blaze which was under control by 10.45pm.

It is understood that former barmaid Vikki had been visiting a friend who lived in the caravan, but had been alone when the fire broke out.

An investigation into the cause is under way.
