Firefighters rescued a motorist who had driven into floodwater near Dorchester.
The car was partially submerged in the water on the West Stafford bypass outside the county town shortly after 8pm last night.
The road is closed due to rising water and there are warning signs either side of the flood.
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "We would yet again warn people not to ignore warning signs."
