Week of prayer for unity open to all
3:00pm Tuesday 15th January 2013 in News
Week of prayer for unity open to all CHURCHES Together in Bridport and District are holding a major service at Bridport United Church to mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
It will be at the United Church in East Street at 6.30pm on Sunday January 20. The preacher will be Father Richard Meyer, of St Mary and St Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, focussing on the question What Does God Require of Us?
The Student Christian Movement in India has been the inspiration behind this year’s week of Prayer for Christian Unity organised by Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.
Chairman of Churches Together in Bridport and district the Rev Philip Ringer said: “I am looking forward to this service when, regardless of our denomination, we can leave our own internal stresses and strains behind us and have our spiritual horizons broadened by the deep issues elsewhere in God’s world.
“I hope and pray that many people will respond to the open invitation to join us on 20th.”
All are also invited to other services in the town during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
They include Evening Prayer at St. Swithun’s Church, Allington, at 5.30pm on Saturday January 19 and throughout the following week from Monday January 21 to Friday January 25.
