Searching for a star in Weymouth
2:00pm Wednesday 16th January 2013 in News By Emma Walker
AUDITIONS to find the best singer on the south coast will soon be back in Weymouth.
Star Sensations has returned for its fifth year with a record number of contestants already signed up to compete.
The main prize on offer is the chance to release a record on worldwide digital download by Ispirato Music Label, co-written by Helena Mace and the winner.
All prizes are on offer to both age categories, 16 and under and 17 and over, with further chances to win cash and gain industry support.
Ambassador Helen Mace said it is hoped a cash prize of £1,000 will be up for grabs for the adult winner and £500 for the Little Stars category.
She added: “We are kick-starting the competition in Weymouth this year and may even have to add on extra dates.
“For the past five years, Weymouth has shown it has so much talent.
“The competition is really fun and it’s a great opportunity for someone to release their own record.”
The competition grows each year and is judged by industry experts including agents and recording artists.
Adrian Bevan, of Weymouth, who has entered the competition twice, battled for a spot in the adult final last year. He said: “It is the most professional, yet fun and relaxed competition I have ever entered.”
This year auditions will also be held in Bourne-mouth and Southampton.
Ms Mace added that Star Sensations were proud to support Cash for Kids charity where much of the money raised would be donated to help local children.
Auditions cost £10 and will be held in Weymouth at the Centenary Club on Jubilee road on April 15 and 17.
Applicants can also audition by sending video entries or YouTube links via starsensations.co.uk.
If successful at this stage the applicant will be entered automatically into a live heat with a chance of making it to the grand final.
