Next stage of Weymouth harbour repairs announced

Repairs to Weymouth harbour to begin on Monday Repairs to Weymouth harbour to begin on Monday

THE next stage of repairs to Weymouth's harbour wall is to begin next week.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council have announced that piling work to form the foundations will start on Monday and warn that noise disruption is expected while the work goes on until March.

Councillor Gill Taylor, spokesperson for Environment and Sustainability, said: "We are really pleased that work to repair the harbour wall is progressing well and as planned.

"We are now moving to the next stage of the project and would like to make residents aware that there could potentially be a lot of noise during the piling stage of the works.

"This has to be carried out to get the work done and it will be worth it in the long run as it will enable Condor Ferries to return to the borough."

Work will be carried out from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8am and 6pm, but some work may take place outside these hours because of tides.

Condor is due to return to Weymouth on July 17 with its fast ferry service, once the repair work is completed.

This report has been here for over an hour and no one has complained about the noise that the work will create. Also no one has complained about our council or Councillors.

Come on people, you can do better than this.
