Weymouth Football Club site plan submitted

FORMAL planning applications for Weymouth Football Club to be relocated and for 170 new homes to be built have been submitted.

The twin applications are for the football club to be moved to a new community stadium at Lodmoor and for 170 homes to be built on the current football club site in Radipole Lane.

The homes would be created around a village green and would create a community that draws on the best of the character of surrounding businesses, the developer says.

Wessex Delivery Partnership says it has taken into consideration comments from the club and residents following two public consultation events.

The team behind the development is still keen to hear from people. Further public consultation will be administered through Weymouth and Portland Borough Council’s planning process.

And ignored the residents and the club as usual. The residents dont want the housing estate and Lodmoor doesnt want the football club next to the reserve but ignore the residents and try and make a quick buck anyway.

Seem to remember saying at the time they got involved that their only intention at the end of the day will be to build on the land. It's the same with another certain farmer in Weymouth who bought some land to 'farm' it, but lo and behold has submitted a planning application to build houses mmmm what a surpise!! I agree with above, they always ignore the residents etc and just go through the motions. So much for democracy. Stinks

Given the quality of football, and the expected number of spectators, I can't see why they can't play at the Marsh.
