Nando's opens in Dorchester's Brewery Square

STAFF have welcomed what they hope will be a peri-peri good future at the official opening of Nando’s in Dorchester’s Brewery Square.

The Portuguese-themed restaurant chain has given employment to 23 people from Dorchester, Weymouth and surrounding areas.
It will also do its bit to help its chosen local charity, Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.
At the opening, Matt Smith, Weldmar community fundraiser, said: “As their charity we are going to be doing a lot of things in-store, lots of promotions with lots of involvement from the Nando’s staff.
“We came in and gave a talk to the staff last week about the charity and we’re so pleased to have been chosen by Nando’s.
“Anywhere we can get involved with a new business in the area is just brilliant- this will really help boost our much-needed funds.”
Nando’s Dorchester general manager Caroline Gubbins said: “We are very excited to be officially opening today.
“We’ve done lots of dry-runs and lots of training and the staff are doing great.
“We are very pleased to be part of the Brewery Square development.
“We hope that it’s going to bring lots more people in to Dorchester.”

Sounds better than McDonalds where you'll get a crappy burger and a crappy coffee

It's good. Went to the open evening and the food was very good. Not sure I would go that often, but it will be popular. My only complaint is that it is perhaps a little bit small- only a few parties of 8 people will fill the place.

Found the staff to very friendly and helpful, and anything that brings jobs and choice to the area can only be a good thing.

It may not be for everyone, but if you don't like it, then don't go.

Ahh Nandos, the spiritual home of the Chav.

Citizens of Dorchester ready yourselves for the clapped out Saxos equipped with neon under lighting and drum 'n' bass soundtracks heading to your highstreet very soon.

I wish people would stop moaning about the Brewery Development and the new outlets that are opening! Times move on and it will bring more people into the town! Plus the development is creating more jobs which is always needed! And hats off to Nandos, they are actually supporting a local charity! A win win for the charity, win win for the unemployed and win win for the county town

Whilst not an advocate for the Big M but where in Dorchester can a traveller get hot food and drink after midnight, the double espresso bean to cup I had was reasonable.

Having just moved here from Peckham south east London I’m glad to see a bit of Nandos loving has come to Dorchester.

Ill also take Chavs over Jumped up bigots who feel its ok to put people down because of their social standing.

Bring on the Spicy Chicken.

Looks as though you'll just have to stick with your usual. A plastic bottle of cheap cider from whatever supermarket will serve you. Carry on with the wheelie-bin surfing.

I'm also pleased that Nando's have opened a branch in Dorchester. It's an easy, quick and tasty meal in a pleasant enough environment.

For those who balk at the price of a bottle of beer, there is the alternative of all-you-can-drink soft drinks. If you don't want one of those there's tea, coffee etc. Also, under Schedule 4 of the Policing and Crime Act 2009 it is a mandatory condition of the premises alcohol licence that they provide free tap water. So, no problem with expensive bottled beer - unless you're so dependant that you couldn't possibly drink anything else.

Bigoted fool. I couldn't be less chavvy if I tried, and if you actually experienced Nando's you would discover just how inaccurate your sweeping statement is.

Nando's is not a chav restaurant. For a start it's foreign, innit, and secondly the hot chicken would blow their designer socks off!!

Dick, did you type that out or just copy and paste it from the last time you used it on a Nando's article on the Echo website?

dont know where the guy gets his info on chavs, idiot, i personally think nandos is by far the best out of all the fast food restaurants and visited there today from weymouth and was exceptional, my only complaint is why not have one in weymouth, would surely be busier and the tourist trade in summer would fill it seven days a week and i would defo go more often.

Probably because Weymouth is becoming run down.

I assume that the residents getting angry about Nando's opening are the descendants of the people who protested against the railway coming to Dorchester because "the giant steam beast would cause the crops to fail".

I think Nando's is more of a restaurant than a fast food outlet, but that's not a discussion I'd like to get into, we're missing the point here...

Nando's do chicken, and they do it extremeyl well. As for the 'chav' comment, sod off somewhere else then. I'm a Nando's regular (Happy days -me and the mrs won't have to travel all the way to tower park/castle point from now on!) - and I can honestly say I'm genuinely chuffed that Nando's are finally open.

Last but not least ,they do lemon & herb/mango and lime, for those of you who aren't keen on spicy food (e.g me!)

All this talk of Nando's is making me hungry... ! Guess what I'm having for tea!

Are you unfamiliar with the concept of restaurants?

They are all choosing Dorchester over Weymouth as the latter is dying on its arse.

I think Weymouth is dead.
