POLICE and coastguards are searching for a man in Dorset following concern for his welfare.

The police helicopter, police officers and the Lyme Regis Coastguard Rescue Team are looking for a 41-year-old man, concentrating their search in the Ware Cliff area, Lyme Regis.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “We have got a concern for welfare for a 41-year-old man. “It’s a search that’s involving the helicopter.

“I believe he is from out of the county but believed to be possibly in the area.

“He is not dangerous, just a concern for welfare. “They are searching Lyme Regis as a whole at the moment.

“I believe the coastguards are involved as well.”

Police and coastguards have been seen searching thick undergrowth in the Ware Cliff area and have been assembling at Holmbush car park.

Once again the Echo does not report that The Dorset Search & Rescue was involved in a search. What is the problem? Can you not spell Dorset Search & Rescue? 'O' Look I've spelt it twice for you, now there is no reason not to mention these volunteers in the future. Who I may add give up their own time, to help people they don't know at their own expense. So give them the recognition they are all worthy of.

To be fair to the Echo(for a change), tey are only reporting the information provided to them by the Police. Even the Police are unsure of who are involved at tthe time this was reported to the media, Quote: “I believe the coastguards are involved as well.” from a Police spokesman.

To be even fairer, it was the volunteers from DORSAR, that searched after dark in the freezing cold, well after the Police and Coastguards had gone home to their nice warm beddy-byes.
