Motorists face further delays as work on Granby Industrial Estate is extended

MOTORISTS are warned the closure of part of Weymouth’s Granby Industrial Estate has been extended by a week.

Dorset County Council says work to install a toucan crossing point at the top entrance to the Granby on Cumberland Drive has been hit by the recent cold weather.

The crossing is being provided as part of the Marsh Route footpath and cycle lane which runs from Chickerell towards the Marsh playing fields.

Because it has been too cold to lay concrete or ‘black top’ it has put the work programme back a week. This means work at Cumberland Drive at its junction with Chickerell Road will now last until the end of Friday, February 8.

A county council spokesman said businesses remain open as usual, with drivers needing to access the Granby Industrial Estate from Chickerell Link Road.

Other work in the area has so far been unaffected by the cold weather.
