Mayor of Weymouth Margaret Leicester in charity fund thanks

WEYMOUTH and Portland’s Mayor has thanked those who donated to the charity fund over the festive period.

The fund appeal, which is supported by the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club, raised £2,196.50.

Councillor Margaret Leicester, Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, said: “I’m delighted with the amount of money the appeal has raised.

“Christmas can be an expensive time for everyone, even more so given the tough economic climate many of us are facing.

“I would lie to offer my sincere thanks to those who have supported the appeal, and assure them that their money really makes a difference to local people who are in need.”

The Mayor’s Christmas Appeal runs all year round and people and businesses are able to donate at any time.

Donations, or requests for assistance can be sent to the Mayor’s Christmas Fund, Council Offices, North Quay, Weymouth, DT4 8TA.
