Dorchester museum closes for maintenance work

DORSET County Museum is set for a temporary closure next month as essential maintenance is carried out.

The Dorchester museum will be closed from February 4 to 8.

The decision was made as the majority of the work involves the main gallery of the museum as well as the Victorian Hall and the Dorchester Gallery.

The museum in High West Street will be open as usual on both Saturday, February 2 and Saturday, February 9 from 10am to 4pm. Director of Dorset County Museum Jon Murden said: “We never like having to close the museum but this essential work will enable us to make major improvements to the building which will benefit everyone in the long term.”
