Weymouth students get taste of the limelight with visit from BBC's Question Time

STUDENTS got a taste of the spotlight when BBC’s Question Time came to Weymouth.
The popular topical debate show was filmed at the Weymouth College Bay Theatre, giving students the chance to meet the crew and experience the action behind the scenes.
Taking questions from the audience were panellists Ian Hislop, editor of Private Eye, Conservative health minister Anna Soubry, former Labour Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw, former leader of the Liberal Democrats Ming Campbell and journalist Angela Epstein.
Students at the college got the chance to act as the panellists and answer questions from presenter David Dimbleby and were also able to interview Question Time make-up artist Debra Hargreaves.
Director of the show Rob Hopkins briefed them on the programme and gave them a tour of the production suite.
Mr Hopkins said the students were ‘very switched on’ and that he enjoyed showing them around the set.
Rob Jones, vice-principal for enterprise and employability at the college, said it was a fantastic day.
He said: “The BBC crew worked closely with our media students, giving them valuable insight into the different roles and skills. “Our performing arts students shadowed the BBC make-up artist and our catering and hospitality students had the chance to prepare and serve an amazing meal for the celebrity panel.”
