Dorchester hospital offering knee replacement chance to patients

A DORCHESTER hospital is offering patients the chance to take advantage of new bespoke knee replacement surgery.
BMI The Winterbourne Hospital hopes the new surgery will lead to increased patient satisfaction and faster recovery times.
The Shapematch Knee replacement claims to be quicker and more precise than a traditional knee replacement and could reduce the need for further knee surgery.
Patients undergo an MRI scan so the consultant can create an exact three dimensional model of the knee and have unique cutting edges produced.
Using equipment that is specifically designed for an individual patient ensures the knee replacement is inserted as accurately as possible.
Simon Garrett, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the private hospital, said: “Having such a detailed scan of the knee allows us to plan the surgery ahead, from incision to placement.”
