Inquest opened after body found on West Dorset beach

AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a man whose body was found washed up on rocks at Lyme Regis.

The 41-year-old man has been named by Dorset Police as Simon Mark Douthwaite of Swindon.

It is understood Mr Douthwaite plunged from the Cobb wall into the sea.

The cause of death was drowning.

The inquest was opened and adjourned by Dorchester Coroner's Court.

Mr Douthwaite's body was found on Thursday following a major search operation.

Dozens of emergency services personnel, search and rescue volunteers and members of the public offered their help to find Mr Douthwaite.

The body was found washed up at Monmouth Beach by walkers.
