Dorchester recycling centre to close for deep clean

DORCHESTER’S household recycling centre is to close for three days later this month.
The Louds Mill centre on St George’s Road will be close on Tuesday, February 26 for essential cleaning and maintenance to be carried out and will reopen at 9am on Friday, March 1.
The annual deep clean will include a thorough cleansing of the site, landscape maintenance, relining of parking bays, painting and general repairs to steps and recycling containers.
The household recycling facility at West Mill Lane in Sherborne will also be closed for three days from Tuesday, February 12 for a similar deep clean.
Director of the Dorset Waste Partnership Steve Burdis said: “The deep clean is part of a planned maintenance programme for all our HRCs built into our contract with operators W&S Recycling.
“As a result, there is no extra cost for the deep clean treatments. “We have chosen a relatively quiet time of year and the least busy part of the week to carry out this work, minimising disruption for local people as much as possible.
“For practical and safety reasons we need to close the site to visitors during this period.”
While the centres are closed residents can use any of the other household recycling centres in Dorset or hang onto their waste until their local centre reopens.
