Met Office urge road users to take care after warnings of ice, wind and sleet

MOTORISTS are being urged to take care on the roads amid warnings from the Met Office of ice, wind and sleet.

The Met Office has issued a warning for ice this morning as well as cautioning for the danger of high winds from the morning into lunchtime and afternoon.

The Met Office has also warned of rain throughout the day with the danger of sleet in the morning.

Environment Agency flood warnings are still in place for the South Winterbourne Valley. This includes Winterbourne Abbas, Winterbourne Steepleton, Martinstown and Winterborne Monkton.

There is also still a flood warning in place for Lower Frome from East Stoke to Wareham.

Alerts, a lower category, are still in place for the Lower Frome and its tributaries between Dorchester and Wareham as well as the Piddle and its tributaries.

There is also a groundwater flooding alert in place for West Dorset, mainly in the Bridport area. There is also a flood alert in place for Weymouth rivers and streams, mainly covering the Wey.

There are no warnings on the Met office weather site for Weymouth until after 9pm tonight and just 40% likelihood for light showers during the day.
