Apply now for NHS Continuing Healthcare
3:30pm Wednesday 6th February 2013 in News
PEOPLE in Dorset who think they should be assessed for eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding need to apply by March 31.
NHS Continuing Healthcare is care provided outside hospital, arranged and funded by the NHS, for people with ongoing healthcare needs.
It can be provided in any setting, such as a person’s home or a residential home.
It includes such care as services from community nurses, therapy and help with bathing, dressing and laundry.
It can also include care home fees. Any person, or their relative, who received care, paid for between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012, and was not assessed for NHS Continuing Healthcare and think they should have been, can apply.
People do not need to present all their medical history by March 31. The first step is to notify the PCT and provide some basic information.
After this patients will be told about the process and sent the relevant forms to complete.
NHS Continuing Healthcare is free, unlike social and community care services provided by councils for which a charge may be made, depending on income and savings.
Visit dorset.nhs.uk or call the PCT on 01305 368900 for details.
